Pennsylvania's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (Pennsylvania ECYEH) Program was established to make sure homeless youth have access to a free and appropriate public education while removing barriers that homeless children face. Its goal is to have the educational process continue as uninterrupted as possible while the children are in homeless situations.

Education For Homeless Youth BEC

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides a rich learning environment that is student centered, developmentally appropriate and content area integrated. It includes the following:

• Facilitates the student's achievement of English proficiency through the communication skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Effective and meaningful participation in regular education and progress toward achievement of academic standards.
• Acculturation process in a complex society that is multicultural by exposing students to customs, traditions and expectations of their new environment.
